About Us
Youngest daughter of the Chaney family, Elizabeth Lunsford with the help of her husband and family began J.R. Chaney Bottling Co., the processing and manufacturing arm of the Chaney family of brands.Named after James Riley Chaney, founder of Chaney Farm, it was his dream to see his milk one day sold in stores. It was only appropriate to name this business after him
Quality milk starts before product even hits the container. Cow care plays a critical role in the health and longevity of a herd, and this is something Chaney's is committed to fulfilling every single day. Their milk comes from their cows, on their farm all under their management and our care. When building our new robotic facility in 2016, cow comfort was at the forefront of our priorities. With a free flow robotic system and a compost bedded pack barn, the girls are cared for with a special focus from the day they are born.

Practices
Chaney's has installed a state of the art pasteurization system, that once pumped from the farm tank to the plant side is heated to 165 degrees and held for 17 seconds. This process kills any harmful bacteria that can be found in a raw product without compromising quality. Once pasteurized the product is then standardized for butterfat, homogenized to ensure the fat is dispersed throughout the milk, bottled, and then placed in our cooler units where it can then be distributed.
J.R. Chaney Bottling Co. is a Grade A facility and is monitored by USDA, FDA and state regulatory agencies.
This process allows for a product as close to its original state as possible. Chaney's invested not only in a glycol system that will keep the milk at 36 degrees, helping to prolong shelf life, but also state of the art lab equipment.
A system provided by Charm Sciences, has allowed the ability to test the milk, and know the full quality before it ever leaves the farm. Every load of raw milk piped over is tested for antibiotic residues, ensuring that no cow treated for an illness will ever have its milk enter the tank.
In addition to antibiotic testing that's invested in equipment that allows for testing of other bacteria, as well as test surfaces in the plant, telling us how well our cleaning systems are actually working.
